Catholic Studies is both a field of study and a movement within Catholic higher 
education. As a field of study, students at various institutions are able to 
enrich their understanding of the world through integrating the methods and results of 
different academic disciplines in light of the Catholic intellectual tradition. As a 
movement, Catholic Studies Centers and Programs exist to revitalize, 
reinvigorate, and enhance the Catholic identity and mission of Catholic institutions 
of higher learning. Ultimately, Catholic Studies is a community of scholars - students, 
faculty, and administrators -seeking to integrate the rich traditions of the Church into 
life and culture.
